Green Bay Packers All-Time Leading Receiver and Dancing with the Stars Champion, Donald Driver, to executive produce indie film, 100.
The story of 100 begins when a diabetes diagnosis challenges a man to lose 100 pounds. He gets tough love from a widowed fast food worker, who helps him realize there’s life and maybe a new career outside of the greasy bag.
According to the CDC, over 100 million Americans are living with diabetes or prediabetes with higher diagnosis rates attributed to minority communities. Inspired by the real life Type 2 diabetes diagnosis of the star, and co-writer, Brandon Lewis, the film will feature his dramatic 100 pound weight loss, in the film and in real life. As Executive Producer, Donald will supervise Brandon’s health journey through his Dallas based Driven Elite Academy which specializes in fitness, medical, and nutritional needs for its clients.
Brandon, a Know Diabetes By Heart Campaign Ambassador for the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association, admits, “I’ve struggled with my weight all my life. Once I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, I knew I had to do something. Putting my struggle on screen will hold me accountable. Announcing this partnership today, when many people are already second guessing their New Year’s Resolutions to get healthy, reinforces that this will be the toughest thing I have ever done.”
Donald Driver is no stranger to a challenge, the Superbowl champion and Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer is ready to guide Brandon’s transformation. “I wake up every day and ask God how I can make a change in someone’s life today. Today, it starts with Brandon” A documentary of the training and behind the scenes struggles will also be captured in this never before seen journey.
As Brandon’s wife, Lewis Taylor Productions co-founder and 100 co-writer, Seckeita Lewis has a personal stake in the film’s success. “I am not only looking forward to this change for my family’s future, but also to create a story that can inspire others struggling with diabetes and obesity. To let them know they can fight and win against these diseases.”
Veteran producer, Milan Chakraborty of indie darlings Assassination Nation (Sundance 2018) and My Friend Dahmer (Tribeca 2017) joins the production that is also supported by the Film Collaborative, a non-profit organization that enables tax deductible donations to the arts.
